We didn't cook anything, it was more of a get to now the kitchen. And a small tour of the meat locker, stock room and such. And we finally got our knife kits! Yes, you heard me correctly, KNIFE KIT. Want to see my beautiful knife kit? Ready?
The definition of "Pure Beauty." I bet all you other college students don't get a knife kit at Orientation. Only here at the CIA. And just a heads-up.. The Culinary Institute of America is the "REAL" CIA. It was founded before the "other" CIA. Just a fun fact for you all haha

But, back to my schedule! This semester I will be taking the following:
Culinary Fundamentals.
Culinary Math.
Food Safety.
First Year Seminar.
Product Knowledge.
Nutrition.
Intro to Gastronomy.
Externship Seminar.
Pretty cool, huh? haha I'm excited. If you were wondering about the externship thing, its a 15 week internship, where we practice our skills in a more real life setting. We can choose our location and everything. I could go abroad or to some kick ass place! Enough of my schedule and knives.. Now on to what I ate on Saturday.
For lunch I decided to go with Asian food. (Not a surprise, huh? haha) But I had Fried Hake with a Red Chili Sauce. A Cold Peanut Noodle Dish. Spring Roll and Pot Sticker. Wonton Soup. And for dessert, I had: A Coconut Tapioca with a Mixed Fruit Chutney and Mago and Mixed Berry Sorbet. An Apple Cake Thing with a Sugar Garnish and Vanilla Ice Cream. A Date Cake with a Whipped Topping and a Berry Sauce.

And for dinner. I had Southern Fried Chicken with Whipped Potatoes and Collared Greens. A Peanut Vinaigrette Salad. Corn Bread. A Seafood Bisque. And for dessert I had: Raspberry Lemonade Cream Puffs. A Lemon Bar with a Lime Topping and a Candied Orange Garnish. A Milk Chocolate Mousse Cake with a Raspberry and Chocolate Garnish. A Layered Chocolate Pistachio Cake with a White Chocolate Garnish and a Pistachio Macaroon.
